Michael HEINDORFF (Born.1949)
Heindorff attended art college and University of Braunschweig, Germany, 1970-74, gaining a German National Scholarship, 1972-76, and a DAAD scholarship for London, 1976-7, attending Royal College of Art.
Heindorff was proficient in different medias and styles, but over the years moved away from figuration towards abstraction. In 1976, he won a John Moores Prize at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, later winning the prestigeous Schmidt-Rottluff Prize and Villa Massimo Prize, Rome.. A retrospective was held in 1987 at Northern Centre for Contemporary Arts.
The London gallery of Bernard Jacobson, exhibited his work for maany years, also representing him in New York. Heindorff taught at Royal College of Art and was included in its Exhibition Road Show of 1988. The Tate and Arts Council hold works, and he is included in many important public and private collections.
